๐ŸŽญ Anime Review: Gachiakuta

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐✨ (3.5/5)

“You can't become strong until you know your weakness.”

– Enjin

๐Ÿ”น First Impressions
That line perfectly captures the spirit of Gachiakuta. The anime kicks off with a premise that instantly sparks curiosity: a floating city that discards its waste into a bottomless abyss, where both trash and people are thrown away. It’s a raw, unique backdrop for a story about injustice and survival. The early episodes balance mystery with a sense of struggle, making you want to see how the protagonist will rise against a broken system.

๐Ÿ”น Visuals & Style
The animation is gritty yet stylish, perfectly matching the tone of the series. Fight scenes are fluid enough to stay exciting, and the trash‑ridden setting is captured with creativity. While it doesn’t always hit the same level of polish as other dark fantasy anime, it has a distinct edge that makes it stand out. The soundtrack adds tension, though it’s not the most memorable part of the experience.

๐Ÿ”น Characters & Story Flow
Character development is one of the anime’s strengths. The protagonist’s journey feels relatable, and the supporting cast brings variety—some characters you’ll root for, others you’ll dislike, but all contribute to the unpredictability of the world. The pacing can be uneven, with moments that drag after strong build‑ups, yet the cliffhanger ending leaves you wanting more. It’s the kind of finale that makes you curious enough to check out the manga.

๐Ÿ”น Overall Verdict
At 3.5/5, Gachiakuta is a solid watch. It’s engaging and stylish, with strong character beats, but it’s not flawless. The story could be tighter, and the visuals don’t always reach their peak. Still, it’s worth recommending if you enjoy dark settings with layered characters. By the end, you’ll likely find yourself hooked enough to explore the manga for deeper answers.

“Even in the darkest pit, light can be found if you keep moving forward.”

๐ŸŽฌ Tougen Anki ⭐ Rating: 4/5

๐Ÿ“… Watched: February 2026

Thoughts:

✓ Acting (Voice Acting): Solid performances that brought intensity and emotion to the characters, especially during emotional and high-action scenes.

✓ Storyline: From the very first episode, Tougen Anki immediately grabbed my attention. The intense and bloody opening set the tone for the series, and the fight scenes were visually impressive. The animation and action felt powerful, making every battle impactful rather than just chaotic violence.

The characters are another strong point. While the pacing can feel a bit slow at times and there are a few frustrating personalities along the way, the cast remains engaging. My personal favorites are Mudano, Dr. Oiranzaka, and Yodogawa — they’re cool, powerful, and have a strong presence whenever they appear.

What I liked most is that the series doesn’t rely on action alone. As the story progresses, it focuses on character development and the emotional struggles behind the conflict. The narrative shows that the situation isn’t simply black and white, which adds depth and makes the journey more meaningful.

Overall, the series delivers a strong experience. It may not be for everyone, especially if you’re not a fan of brutal and graphic violence, but if you enjoy dark action with emotional weight, this anime is definitely worth watching. I’m looking forward to the next season and also plan to read the ongoing manga.

✓ Cinematography (Animation): Strong visual quality with fluid fight choreography, impactful effects, and a dark atmosphere that perfectly matches the tone of the story.

๐Ÿ“– Synopsis:
Tougen Anki follows the long-standing conflict between the descendants of the Oni and the Momotaro. After a life-changing incident, a young man discovers his hidden identity and is drawn into a dangerous world of power, revenge, and survival, where the line between enemies and allies is not always clear.

๐ŸŽฌ Pass the Monster Meat, Milady!

๐Ÿ“Œ Genre: Fantasy, Romance, Slice of Life
๐Ÿ“… Date Watched: February 4
⭐ Rating: 2/5

๐Ÿ“ Review

Pass the Monster Meat, Milady! starts off with a surprisingly strong and refreshing introduction. The early episodes present an interesting premise with hints of depth, blending fantasy elements with light romance in a way that initially feels balanced and engaging. At first, the story gives the impression that it is building toward meaningful character growth and a larger narrative.

As the series continues, however, that early promise slowly disappears. The plot loses focus and becomes repetitive, leaning heavily on flirtatious and teasing moments instead of actual progression. What once felt subtle and charming eventually turns excessive, making the viewing experience feel more awkward than enjoyable.

Another major drawback is the lack of character development. The characters are introduced with clear abilities and potential, yet these aspects are barely explored. Rather than expanding the world or deepening the characters’ roles, the story keeps them static, leaving much of the narrative feeling shallow and underdeveloped.

Although the manga and light novel are still ongoing, I have no interest in continuing them. The anime failed to provide enough substance or direction to justify investing more time, and even if a second season were announced, I would not feel compelled to follow it. Ultimately, the series feels like a missed opportunity—strong at the start, but unable to deliver a satisfying or meaningful payoff.

๐Ÿ“– Synopsis from MAL

A noblewoman with an unusual taste for monster cuisine crosses paths with a mysterious duke, leading to a fantasy story that mixes cooking, romance, and daily life in a world filled with monsters.
