Thoughts:
✓ Acting (Voice Acting): Solid performances that brought intensity and emotion to the characters, especially during emotional and high-action scenes.
✓ Storyline: From the very first episode, Tougen Anki immediately grabbed my attention. The intense and bloody opening set the tone for the series, and the fight scenes were visually impressive. The animation and action felt powerful, making every battle impactful rather than just chaotic violence.
The characters are another strong point. While the pacing can feel a bit slow at times and there are a few frustrating personalities along the way, the cast remains engaging. My personal favorites are Mudano, Dr. Oiranzaka, and Yodogawa — they’re cool, powerful, and have a strong presence whenever they appear.
What I liked most is that the series doesn’t rely on action alone. As the story progresses, it focuses on character development and the emotional struggles behind the conflict. The narrative shows that the situation isn’t simply black and white, which adds depth and makes the journey more meaningful.
Overall, the series delivers a strong experience. It may not be for everyone, especially if you’re not a fan of brutal and graphic violence, but if you enjoy dark action with emotional weight, this anime is definitely worth watching. I’m looking forward to the next season and also plan to read the ongoing manga.
✓ Cinematography (Animation): Strong visual quality with fluid fight choreography, impactful effects, and a dark atmosphere that perfectly matches the tone of the story.
