๐ฌ Obsession (2025) — ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ (3/5)
I kept seeing Obsession recommended everywhere, so I went into it with pretty high expectations. Unfortunately, it just didn't hit for me the way I thought it would. I can understand why some viewers enjoyed it, but personally, it ended up being a pretty average watch.
One of my biggest issues was the characters. Some of their decisions had me questioning what they were thinking more than once. ๐ There were moments where I found myself frustrated rather than invested, which made it harder for me to fully connect with the story.
That said, I know the film wasn't really trying to focus on realistic choices or deep character logic. Its main focus was clearly obsession, control, and the consequences of trying to force love instead of letting it happen naturally. At its core, it felt like a dark and twisted version of the classic "be careful what you wish for" story.
The movie definitely deserves credit for its shock factor. Some scenes were surprisingly brutal, and there were a few moments that genuinely caught me off guard. The unsettling atmosphere worked well, and I can see why horror fans who enjoy psychological and supernatural themes would appreciate what it was trying to do.
The standout for me was definitely Inde Navarrette's performance as Nikki. She gave the strongest performance in the film and carried many of the emotional moments. By the end, I honestly just felt bad for her after everything her character went through. ๐ญ
Would I recommend it?
Maybe. If you're into psychological horror, disturbing themes, and stories that explore obsession and the darker side of love, you might enjoy this more than I did. For me, though, a 3-star rating feels about right: not bad, not great, but interesting enough to watch once and decide for yourself.
